The UBC Sustainability Conference in the framework of the “Minecrafting resilient Cities: innovative YOUth-led Policy process for sustainable Europe – MC-YOU” project was held on 5th November in Dolina Charlotty, at the UBC General Conference.
The conference was directed at the cities. The main topic discussed was how cities can adapt gamification and use it when activating young inhabitants.
Marko Paunovic, Out of the Box, introduced the project.
Mārtiņš Eņģelis, Councillor, City of Riga presented the project implementation by the City of Riga.
Agne Kovalenkaite, Youth and community affair’s group chief specialist, Klaipėda introduced Plan to establish digital youth centre and digital youth worker, as well as VR glasses with educational movies about drug use and Erasmus+.
Dorota Kamrowska-Załuska, Associate Professor, Gdańsk University of Technology delivered presentation on Using gamification as a tool to strengthen social participation and raise awareness of city functioning and spatial planning processes. Digital and board games for youth that promotes New European Bauhaus values and to discover local resources and support building of local identity among young people.
Karin Käär, Project Coordinator, TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology, informed on Crafting Circular Futures with BetterGEO: Exploring Raw Materials through Minecraft.
The presentations were followed by the discussion.
